Seattle Pride 2025 — June 29, 2025

Seattle Pride 2025

You couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day to have a parade and a party. We walked along the parade route as it wound its way down 4th Ave to its destination at Seattle Center. Parade-goers of all ages were in great spirits and enjoying the music, food, and atmosphere. Not sure what Pride looks like in other cities, but Seattle always shows up and show out! Happy Pride everyone!

Fall Days and Reflection

The weather has finally started to turn in Seattle. We’ve officially hit ‘The Grey’. That time of year when it’s consistently 45° for a high temp every day. When we’ll have week long stretches of intermittent rain. And when all the California transplants regret moving this far north.

In between all the grey and the rain though, there are still moments of beauty to be found. Moments when the rain stops and the clouds part and the sheer majesty of fall in the PNW is put on display.

Looking south down the Duwamish Waterway towards Mt Rainier at sunrise. Admiring the view of Downtown from Kerry Park. Looking out towards Elliot Bay from Pike Place. Walking through the hidden gem that is Waterfall Garden Park.

After the events of this last week I’ve needed to take some extra time to shut out the fear, the anxiety, and the hopelessness I’ve felt and just appreciate the beauty around me. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m in a better place than I was the night of November 5th.

Here’s to everyone trying to get better.

Marc Levoy Heads to Adobe — July 20, 2020

Marc Levoy Heads to Adobe

Per The Verge:

Levoy will be working on computational photography initiatives across Adobe, and intriguingly, his efforts will be “centered on the concept of a universal camera app,” the company said in an email.

This really is quite the get for Adobe, not to mention a huge benefit to every smartphone manufacturer not named Google. Levoy was the mastermind behind Google’s entire computational photography division, which included their much loved Night Sight feature. And if Adobe really is working on a universal camera app that has that kind of computational punch behind it, why would the average Android user buy a Pixel?

More intriguing still, is what this means for the iPhone. This fall with iOS 14 users will be able to set default email and browser apps. Reason would have it that next year in iOS 15 users will be able to set more and different default apps. Who’s to say the camera couldn’t be one of those? This all could add up to a VERY big loss for Google.
